Book Review: Pupsnacks - 35 Delicious and Healthy Recipes to Bark Home About

The book is one of the best illustrated dog food recipe books I’ve read so far. It comes with photos of the food, delicious enough to eat. And also sports pictures of dog models chomping happily on the food. A few of them are hilarious to behold.

What I like best about the book is the wide range of recipes that span from cakes, cookies, and muffins; to ‘lollipups’, liver fudge, entrées, sushi and crepes. Amazingly creative and refreshing – all within 35 recipes. Some might wish that this book could be more substantial - with more recipes and illustrations.

Another thing I liked personally about the book is the introduction of a new ingredient, quinoa. Quinoa “is a complete protein, containing all eight essential amino acids. It is also rich in minerals and omega oils and is gluten free.” Wow. I’m going to try baking with quinoa, wonder how it would taste.

Wow, 35 recipes sounds like a lot of variety to me. I wish my mom would buy this book. The only time I get anything but prescription dog food is in the summer when the farmer's market is going. There is a lady there that bakes for us four-legged shoppers and she sells the best snacks. Cooper

Hehe I love that picture, so cute! Is that a cat cupcake?

I wish LS would get it too. She hasn't even started on your banana muffin recipe. Lazy lazy LS!

Hi aphasia decoder: 35 sounds like a lot? You can check out "The Everything Cooking For Dog Book", it's got 150 recipes! But it has got no illustrations :p

Hey Happy: Yes! It's a cute little cat cupcake :) The book calls it "Catty Cakes". I thought dogs and cats don't mix well, but they do in this case... *slurp* Haha, no worries LS, just a tummy rub should make Happy happy too.

Hi Johann: You have a great weekend too with your humans, hehe..

Allo tatum tot: Livers are great treats :p Mine gives me some really crispy dried liver, pretty much like their potato chips.

Based on your review, I bought the book from ebay. LOVE it! The recipes are wonderful and the ingredients are great - and they even provide tidbits of information on why one ingredient is really good for our dogs.

I can't wait for my pups, gib and mia, to try the food!

bravo! Great pick!

Hi Jaz gib and mia,

Wow! Happy cooking :) It's one of the rare dog food cook dogs that has relatively more illustrations, and good to look at too.

Some other books that I've seen are so wordy, and no pictures - booooring... *yawn*
